Young people volunteer

Nice to receive this e-mail as a recent follow-up from a group at Congregation Beth Israel volunteering at Foodshare's facility at the Connecticut Regional Market in Hartford...

"Thank you so much for organizing this fabulous day for us!  I brought my 8th Grade Journey Onward class to Foodshare.   They bonded with each other as they cleaned and packaged lettuce and tomatoes!   We watched a Foodshare video about the importance of Foodshare in our communities.  It was a homerun for the kids!

"Our overall experience was very positive and enlightening for the kids and adults who attended.  Journey Onward works throughout the year with Foodshare and this was the first time we actually worked at Foodshare.  The kids learned how foods get donated, then cleaned and packaged and then distributed throughout the community to those in need.

"Steve from Foodshare was very welcoming and complimented the kids throughout our time there.  He was very appreciative of our help!"
