Introducing ... Foodshare's dispatcher
Role at Foodshare: Operations Administrative Assistant/Dispatcher. "As Dispatcher, I schedule the trucks - agency deliveries, retail pickups, farm gleaning, our meat recovery program, plus maintaining the trucks. As Ops Admin, I do the administrative tasks for the Operations Department. Some responsibilities include purchase orders, calendar schedules, RoadNet Routing Database, backup for our Inventory Clerk and Warehouse Manager."
How long with Foodshare? 8 years
Hobbies: Hiking and working out.
Why I do what I do: "I have been on the receiving side of the Mobile Foodshare line. This has given me an insight first-hand to being food insufficient and drives me harder to work towards our mission of ending hunger."
Most recent accomplishment: "With the help of our SNAP Outreach Coordinator, I was able to help people in my own town. This was very rewarding to me, both professionally and personally."
Last read: "The Bible. Front to back, 4 times. Each time I am shown more."
What was the hardest thing you’ve had to learn at Foodshare? "That I cannot help every single person who calls looking for food."
What has stayed the same in your time at Foodshare? "The drive by all who work here to work together towards our mission to end hunger in Hartford and Tolland counties."
If you could be, or do, anything else – what would it be? "I have always wanted to hike the entire Appalachian Trail."
What one word would you use to describe yourself? Disciplined.
