This week, schools across the country will celebrate the strong connections of eating breakfast at school with successful learning and good health for children. This is a good time for us to think about ways to improve participation – especially how breakfast in the classroom can help schools reach more children. Check out these materials about school breakfast and get the conversation started in your community:
- FRAC’s School Breakfast Scorecard (pdf) and Breakfast in America’s Big Cities (pdf) show participation nationally, in every state, and in 26 large urban school districts. The reports also show how serving breakfast in the classroom leads to higher participation.
- Breakfast for Health (pdf) and Breakfast for Learning (pdf) contain succinct summaries of research documenting the benefits of a healthy morning meal.
- And, FRAC has a page on its website dedicated to Breakfast in the Classroom, containing helpful tips and resources.
