Mobile Foodshare in the suburbs

I've had two calls recently from two different towns to tell me about the impact Mobile Foodshare has on their lives.  I thought you might be interested in what these two people had to say.

Karen from Southington called to tell us that being able to go to the Mobile Foodshare site has made a huge difference in her ability to have a healthy diet.  She is pre-diabetic and trying to manage the condition and prevent full-blown diabetes with her diet.  But she said, "When you don't have a lot, you tend to buy the cheapest stuff you can, which is not the healthiest stuff."  Karen commented on how much she liked the yogurt and ended by saying, "It's an amazing thing you guys do.  I can't say thank you enough."

Nancy is a retired teacher and a volunteer at Pauline's Stock Pot soup kitchen in East Windsor.  She told me that she is 65 years old and still in good health, so she goes to the Mobile Foodshare truck to pick up some things for friends of hers who are older and can't get out to the truck.  She said, "Holy moly, there was a ton of food on that truck!  And those cabbages were the size of your head!"
