Remember the
blog entry earlier in the week about Tuesday evening's celebration event for the Walk Against Hunger?
By Thursday's mail, I already had a note from
Loaves and Fishes in Hartford that said, in part:
“Loaves and Fishes Ministries is very happy to receive the check for $23,955.60, our portion of the Walk Against Hunger proceeds. In tough economic times, small social service agencies like food pantries and homeless shelters are most vulnerable. Foodshare’s support of our food programs makes a tremendous difference in our ability to continue our programs and we look forward to our continued connection with you.
“As Loaves and Fishes celebrates our 30th anniversary of making a difference in the Asylum Hill neighborhood of Hartford this year, our guiding policy remains to try and create an atmosphere of a caring community, with programs that allow our clients and neighbors to help themselves out of their current situations and into more responsible, independent, and fulfilling lifestyles. This means investing in programs and policies that promote economic security and family stability.”
Alyce F. Hild, Executive Director, Loaves and Fishes Ministries, Inc.
Congratulations to the team at Loaves and Fishes, not only for the Walk Against Hunger, but more important, for the great work you do, day in and day out, to actually end hunger and build family stability!
