Mobile Foodshare in the suburbs

Today, I visited the Mobile Foodshare sites in Glastonbury and Newington.

Yes, Glastonbury has a Mobile Foodshare site hosted by First Church.  The site served 100 people today!  The clients were older and younger, of various ethnicities, and included families with children.  The volunteers at First Church are a great and welcoming group who have built relationships with many of the families they help.

In Newington, the site is hosted by the town Human Services office and they served 85 households.  We were pleased to have State Senator Paul Doyle

join us and jump in to help with the distribution of tomatoes.
Other product on the truck today included corn on the cob, lettuce, collard greens, bread, and even some hot chocolate for those cool summer nights.
