Food for kids when school is out

Special update re: New Britain and summer food:

New Britain has more than 24 summer meals locations across the city where kids and teens can eat free, healthy meals all summer long. However, only 1 in 4 of New Britain’s kids and teens that rely on free or reduced price meals during the school year get the nutrition they need in the summer. We need your help to make sure that New Britain area families know about this tremendous program!

We invite you to join Foodshare and End Hunger CT! in our efforts to raise awareness about this federal program by participating in our “Outreach Blitz Day” on Thursday, August 2nd from 9:30am-1pm in one of two ways:
1.      Help us Pound the Pavement!
·         We will be splitting up across the town to distribute promotional materials to organizations, businesses, and residencies to raise awareness of the free Summer Meals Program.
·         Meet at 9:30am at the New Britain High School Cafeteria, 110 Mill Street, New Britain, CT for a brief orientation and to pick-up your outreach materials for the day.
2.      Join our Social Media Outreach Challenge!
·         Follow us on Twitter: https://twitter.com/CTNoKidHungry feeds

Both forums will give you information about how to join our Social Media Outreach Blitz on August 2nd to help get the word out about free summer meals for kids and teens under 18 across New Britain.
