Outreach to connect people with services and benefits

Foodshare SNAP Outreach volunteer Wendy was at the Enfield Mobile Foodshare / "Lunch Bunch" site talking to people about the possibility of receiving SNAP benefits.  Wendy spoke with several individuals and assisted others with the application process.

Enfield volunteer, Roger, used a "bullhorn" to inform families waiting to receive food at the truck in the parking lot several times of the opportunity to meet with Wendy.  If people wanted to talk to Wendy, an office at the church proved perfect for private conversatons.  In one instance, one of the Lunch Bunch supervisors played "Sorry" with a mom's two boys as she talked with Wendy.

This site makes an extra effort to share information with many individuals about available services (food bank, Social Services, etc.) and follow-up when they return.  Most do not know about the assistance available or how to to access the system.  The outreach works!
