Farmington Rotary gets involved

Foodshare's Food Donations Coordinator, Paula Siebers, reports to me that she had a great meeting with members of the Farmington Rotary Club today:

"I just wanted to let you know that I had a great meeting with some member of the Farmington Rotary.

"There were 8 people who attended and they are very enthusiastic about forming a team of Foodshare volunteers to participate in the Volunteer Retail Pick up Program in Farmington, New Britain and West Hartford.

"I am meeting with 10 more members next week and we have started working on the logistics. 

"This is going to be a great boost in volunteers and they are very enthusiastic about it."

Thanks to the Rotary members for stepping up to this work and to Paula for organizing it.  We still need more volunteers throughout the Hartford region who can go out to grocery stores, pick up donations of food, and deliver it directly to local food pantries.  Some training is required, as well as your own vehicle to do the wlrk.  If you are interested or want to learn more, visit the website or get in touch with Paula.
