In conjunction with today's Turkey Tuesday event, Foodshare’s "Turkey Hotline" raised $5,454 in four hours -- enough to cover the purchase of 416 turkeys. This is the first year that we have run the hotline in-house, with volunteers taking the calls.
Brad Davis and Mary Jones of WDRC AM promoted the Turkey Hotline as part of the Bank of America Turkey Tuesday kick-off.
Volunteers Carol Doyle, Gail Langenus, and Peter Chenette, along with our development team, came in at 6:00 AM and took the fast and furious calls and handled the donations.
We thank everyone who called in to purchase a turkey and help to make Thanksgiving a little brighter for families in need.
