DOUBLE FOOD STAMPS FOR FARM PRODUCE IN MICHIGAN GROCERIES

Double Up Food Bucks (DUFB), the successful program initiated by Michigan’s Fair Food Network to provide healthy, fresh produce to low-income families while also supporting local farmers, is expanding from farmers’ markets to grocery stores.  The program doubles the value of SNAP benefits when used for fresh, locally grown fruits and vegetables at nearly 100 farmers’ markets across Michigan. During a three-month trial period starting July 1, SNAP recipients who spend at least $10 on produce items in three Detroit grocery stores will get a DUFB Reward Card good for another $10 of Michigan-grown produce.
