Though they didn't necessarily plan it this way, the timing for this little break from the usual could not have been better. In part, because there seems to be no "usual" at Foodshare right now. With the construction work on our addition, people are moving around in the work spaces and dealing with less than ideal conditions. And of course, at a time of year when there's always a few people on vacation, increasing the work and stress load for others.
It's clear that everyone appreciated this lunch time break, including one staffer who sent me this note:
"Since I don’t know everyone responsible for today’s cookout, I will thank you.
"You certainly are right in saying whether we have physically moved or in the process of moving, this is a stressful period, and it was very nice to be able to take a breather and enjoy all the delicious foods brought in by our coworkers."
