Empty Bowls event a success!

This Saturday Manchester Community College hosted the 16thAnnual Empty Bowls fundraiser for Foodshare.

Empty Bowls is an international grassroots effort to fight hunger.  Potters, local schools and other craftspeople work with the community to create handcrafted bowls and guests are invited to a simple meal of soup and bread. In exchange for a donation, guests keep the handcrafted bowl as a reminder of all the empty bowls in the world.

More than 300 people showed up on Saturday to purchase the unique handmade pottery and devour nearly 200 gallons of soup (all donated by local restaurants and kitchens).

To date, an amazing $12,369 has been raised for Foodshare!  This number will go up, though, since the College will be selling leftover soup all week.  If you missed the event, stop by MCC this week to pick up a quart!

Thank you to everyone who made this great event possible.
