Milk donations

On Monday, the team at Foodshare met with Heidi Harkopf of the New England Dairy and Food Council, and Jill Monti of the New England Dairy Promotion Board.  In addition to educating us about milk, yogurt, and cheese they told us about the Great Gallon Give that they are planning with Stop & Shop Supermarkets, October 4 -13.  Heidi and Jill are also the newest members of Foodshare’s Food Industry Council, a group of volunteers from the industry who help move Foodshare’s mission of ending hunger forward.

Fresh milk and dairy products make up less than 5% of the inventory at food banks like Foodshare.  So,  from October 4-13^th, any consumer can print a voucher or look for a voucher in the Stop & Shop dairy aisle to donate $4, the price of a gallon of milk, to a participating food bank.  Your contribution will provide nutrient-rich milk to families in need.
