Going above and beyond in rescuing food from the dumpster

For the third or fourth week in a row, Kezner DeCordova, and employee at the Open Hearth, has gone above and beyond in retail pick-up from Neighborhood Market in West Hartford.

Kezner does the regular pick-up on Thursdays, and lately the donations have been greater than what he can use in the kitchen at Open Hearth. Instead of leaving food behind at the store (where it will most certainly be discarded) he loads it into his van and delivers it to Foodshare. He would humbly tell you that he is coming to Foodshare anyway for his agency pick-up appointment, but we know that it takes extra effort and time to do this for us. He and a helper have brought us hundreds of pounds of produce each time.

Thank you, Kezner, for making sure that this good food does not go to waste!
