Big Y customers donate to Foodshare

During the months of November and December, Big Y customers could purchase a Sack Hunger bag of groceries for $10.  The bag was filled with non-perishable food items.  The “bags” that were purchased in Hartford and Tolland Counties came to Foodshare last week for us to distribute.

As you will note by the photos, Big Y did not actually deliver bags of food, but kept the product in case lots, which will be much easier for Foodshare to handle and distribute.  We received 36-72 cases each of rice, macaroni, kidney beans, peanut butter, green beans, corn, tuna, peas and cornflakes.

More about the program can be found here.
