On Tuesday the House passed an appropriations bill that fills in the details of the budget agreement reached in December, which headed off a second round of across-the-board sequestration cuts. The Appropriations Bill doles out specific funds to a huge variety of government programs. It now heads to the Senate, where it will likely be voted on later this week. Senior Nutrition programs, which fund Meals on Wheels, get $815 million, $46 million more than they got after the last sequestration cuts. Those cuts forced nearly 70% of Meals on Wheels programs to cut the number of meals they served. The new money should be enough to fully restore meals. The bill also restores funds cut from WIC.
