Latest on the Farm Bil

Today, I quote an e-mail Lucy Nolan, Executive Director of End Hunger CT!, sent last night providing us an update on the Farm Bill:

"Not great news tonight for SNAP in Connecticut as the Conference Committee comes out with a compromise, although Rosa DeLauro rocked it on the House floor shaming those who continue to propose balancing the budget on the backs of those who are not able to fight back - those who are too busy trying to live on limited incomes and nutrition.  I am appalled that Senator Harry Reid would say, as he did tonight, that the SNAP cuts of $8 billion over 10 years won't effect anyone and will take care of fraud and waste (currently less than 1 1/5%).  Tell that the to 65,000+ households in Connecticut that will lose $90 a month in benefits."
