Senator Murphy visits Foodshare

Senator Chris Murphy visited Foodshare's facility at the Connecticut Regional Market yesterday and jumped right in with a group of volunteers to help sort and pack clementines and then apples.

He chatted with volunteers from St. Francis and Pratt and Whitney and talked about the things he does when he is in the state to find out what is going on in the community, including that he rides buses and talks to people using the bus!

And, of course, he and I talked about the devastating cuts to the SNAP program, both enacted and proposed, and how private charity cannot make up the difference!
