USDA’s annual SNAP Quality Control Report reveals that the SNAP Program error rate reached a record low of 3.42% in 2012. Overpayment of benefits accounted for 2.77% of errors, and underpayment was 0.65%. Since 2003, when slightly more than 5% of cases involved overpayment, these kinds of errors have declined 45%. 2012 marks the ninth straight year that the error rate was below 6%.
