Last September, Sharon Finney began volunteering to pick up food donations from Shop Rite of East Hartford as part of Foodshare's Retail Pick-Up Program. Every Monday morning Sharon arrives at Shop Rite to gather, weigh, and pack up donations of produce, meat, bread and canned items.  She then delivers directly to East Hartford Interfaith Ministries (EHIM) Friendship Center, a community kitchen in East Hartford run by Pamela Douglas.

Over the past few months, Sharon has gone beyond the basic drop off of the food donations. She now helps Pamela with the online reporting of the donations and helps in the kitchen to prepare the meals whenever she can. Sharon has also recruited Jill Thompson to join the Retail Pick-up Program and to help in the kitchen.
