Grant from the Walmart Foundation

We’re excited to announce that Foodshare has been awarded a $50,000 grant through the Walmart Foundation’s State Giving Program. This funding will help us purchase some essential pieces of equipment that will support our daily efforts to process food donations. This includes the purchase of a new reach truck, since our current reach truck (pictured here) is reaching the end of its usable life. A new reach truck will help to ensure that we’ll be able to continue to access our entire inventory, in particular the food that’s stored on the highest shelves!  We’ll also be able to purchase a new scale and pallet jack to help us process all of the produce donations that we receive through our recently expanded facility at the Hartford Regional Market.

In addition to this generous gift, local Walmart stores have donated over 390,000 meals worth of food to Foodshare so far this year! Thank you to the entire Walmart community for all that you do to support Foodshare and our food-insecure neighbors!
