Although over 1 million people
nationwide dropped SNAP benefits between August 2013 and 2014 (a 2.5% decline),
participation in Connecticut rose by over 11,000 (nearly 3%) during that
period. As of August 2014, 441,645 Connecticut residents were receiving SNAP
benefits. Over the past 5 years, the state has experienced the 5th
highest rate of increase in the country—almost 55%
