How we spend our Saturdays!

A note I received from Foodshare dispatcher, Cindy Huk about how she spent her day on Saturday:

Today I spent the morning at Stop & Shop on Newington Road in West Hartford collecting monetary donations for Foodshare and spreading our message to the shoppers. I am embarrassed to admit it’s been quite a while since I have done one of these, but after the fun I had today, you will be seeing more of me out and about. Not only did I meet wonderful volunteers from one of our agencies, CFC Storehouse and the people from The River 105.9, but the generosity of folks willing to stuff our red donation box with whatever bills they could spare renewed my commitment to get out there and DO SOMETHING. I strongly urge all staff to get out to one of our events, whether it’s showing up at a local grocery store where we have a table or helping outside our building during our upcoming Thanksgiving Turkey & a Twenty drives. It will strengthen both our mission as well as give you a reminder why we work as hard as we do.
