On Friday, September 16, the 2011 United Way Day of Caring, 2 teams of volunteers from MassMutual worked at Varney Farm in South Windsor, CT, harvesting vegetables for Foodshare. Varney Farm is a non-commercial farm that, with the help of volunteers, has provided Foodshare with locally grown produce since 2007.On this one day, 17 volunteers were able to pick, bag, and load over 7,800 pounds of produce. This is te largest one day harvest in Varney Farm’s 5 year history with Foodshare.
