Ten of the members of Congress who receive agriculture subsidies, either directly or indirectly through trusts or businesses they or their spouse hold, voted last week to cut funding for SNAP by $40 billion over 10 years. For example, Rep. Doug LaMalfa (R-Calf.) and his wife together own one-third of DSL LaMalfa Family Partnership, which received $188,570 in direct farm subsidy payments for 2012. And Rep. Stephen Fincher (R-Tenn.) and his wife are each 50% partners in a family farm that received a $70,574 direct payment in 2012.
