Bloomfield Rotary volunteers at Foodshare

On Wednesday evening, members of the Bloomfield Rotary Club spent three hours at Foodshare helping us sort and pack the donated meat that comes from the retail grocery stores.  Since I'm a member of the club, I joined them and spent some hands on time getting good quality food ready for distribution to people who need it.

Mark Weisman, Bloomfield Rotary President, sent me this comment the next day, "Excellent afternoon at FoodShare yesterday. You and your crew really know how to professionally and respectfully handle volunteers. I hope we can make it a regular happening, and spread the word to the other area Rotary Clubs as well."

With both Stop & Shop and Big Y stores now donating meat to Foodshare every week, we are receiving 12-15,000 pounds of meat per week.  Volunteers are needed to help sort and pack the frozen meat for distribution to people in need.

If you can help, either individually or by bringing a group of volunteers, our biggest need is for groups that can do a three hour shift at our Bloomfield facility on a weekday.  However, if that does not work, we are also here until 7:00 on Wednesday evenings, so a 4:00 or 5:00 to 7:00 shift can work.  If you want to help, please call Foodshare at 860-286-9999.
